Welcome To The Nottingham Arboretum Website
The Unnoficial Nottingham Arboretum News and Information Site
Welcome to the Unnoficial Nottingham Arboretum Website, the site is ran by me Billy Wragg, Owner of the DCEmu Homebrew and Gaming Network, a site famous all around the world and in the worlds top 5000 websites.
I am also a gardener of 21 years and counting of the Nottingham Arboretum and a proud member of the Nottingham in Bloom Design Group, which is a group of talented individuals who design the award winning beds in Nottingham which have won East Midlands in Bloom, Britain in Bloom and the Euro Version called Entente Florale.
This website is an uptodate news site regarding the Nottingham Arboretum where hopefully we can get others helping to make the park even better than it is now.
The Nottingham Forest Themed Carpet bed
Posted By: wraggster
As ive mentioned before i am a lifelong Nottingham Forest fan who trys to watch matches as much as i can but certainly listens to every game on the radio.
Last year for the Winter Carpet Bed in the Arboretum i made a bed with a big duck in which worked exceedingly well.
This year i wanted to pay homage to my favourite team so i got the go ahead to do a flower bed in the shape of the Nottingham Forest tree planted with some 2000 plants consisting of White and Red Bellis (a type of daisy
) and Polyanthus.
First off a photo of the empty bed with my forest cup ready

Now heres a photo of the actual design marked out before planting:

Now heres the finished article, please remember that the plants need to be fully flowering to see the Nottingham forest tree, from around February onwards the tree should be fully visible up until around late May of next year:

One last thing to say - Come on You Reds, Lets get Promoted

The Red and White Flower Garden
Posted By: wraggster
I am a lifelong Nottingham Forest Fan and was lucky enough to see the Brian Clough days and our Euro Cup Wins, Back to Back as well ,beat that Manchester United
This year was also my chance to again design the Flower Garden at the back of the pond on the Arboretum. The Garden holds roughly 20,000 plants.
This year the theme is a red and white theme so basically a Nottingham Forest theme.
In the design i have used serveral shades of White and Red featuring plants such as Wallfowers, Polyanthus, Arabis, Honesty, Silver Dust and bulbs such as Hyacinths and Narcissus and reused from the summer display some Cordylines, Festuca and Heucheras.
Heres 2 photos, please remember that winter bedding never starts to look really good till March but heres some photos anyway.

Improvements to Shrubbery Around the Toilet Block
Posted By: wraggster
The toilet block has been a rather drab area for some time but in the last few days we have relocated the bedding from the Bell Garden, Both the Ostespermums and Armeria are perenials and theres near on 2000 of them so if they survive the move it will be excellent for the park.
Always good to see good plants recycled

The Arboretum Website Is Open
Posted By: wraggster
Finally had some time to open my new site about my workplace the Nottingham Arboretum.
The Arboretum for those who dont know is an 18 acre park in Nottingham City Centre which is an oasis in the middle of a busy city.
The park boasts some of the best flower beds in the city with the Flower Garden and the Dahlia Garden the best of the best.
On the links to the right youll see links to each area of the park and this site will feature the latest news on developments both good and some that may not be good.
Out for now.

The Dahlia Garden (former Rose Garden)
Posted By: wraggster
The Dahlia Garden replaced the rather old Rose Garden about 6 years ago and has many hundreds of dahlias and again hundreds of varities and lots of different types of dahlias.
In the winter the garden also has many bulbs and plants including Polyanthus, Daffodils, Honesty, Forget Me Nots, Wallflowers, Hyacinths and Tulips.
The Dahlia Garden is to the Gardeners known as our recycled garden where we reuse as many flowers as we can.

The Arboretum Bandstand and Tubs
Posted By: wraggster
The Bandstand is the place where all our musical events are held and a rather great place for a wedding
The Tubs around the Bandstand are planted with Coleus, Begonia and Cannas:
